The timing on the R.O.1 Magneto is critical but on further investigation it was found that the leak test closely followed the low speed performance. Therefore it is necessary to check the low speed carefully to ensure a uniform leak test result.
The safety gap was set at 5 3/4 m/m instead of 6 m/m which has always been our setting for the R.O.1 Magneto.
Upon further investigation it was found that the electrode screw had not been polished; this would account for the low sparking voltage of this gap.
