X8783 To Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} from EFC. EFC1/T30.12.25. X.8783 - DISTRIBUTOR RO.{C. C. Rose - Export Manager}65 EX CHASSIS 18-RC.{R. Childs} -BAINBRIDGE- We have investigated this distributor from the point of view of the pitting of the platinum points, and attached please find copy of my assistant's report WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}70, from which you will see that we think there is little doubt that the fault is due to the presence of oil vapour. You will be interested to learn that the standardisation sheet for a device for excluding oil vapour from the distributor head, which device has run 10,000 miles in France without producing this effect on the platinum points, is now nearly completed. It is my intention to take up with EY. as to whether this should not be automatically effected on every chassis which comes in for repair, as I fear there may be further trouble of this nature pending.
