X8794 Ro{C. C. Rose - Export Manager} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EFC. EFC3/T29.1.26. X.8796 - WATFORD MAGNETOS FOR NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. Referring particularly to Watford magneto (EO6) No.87407 which was brought up by Mr. North on his last visit, this magneto being fitted with a cast aluminium armature cover much thicker than the plate generally used, and with ribs to increase its thickness, this magneto has now been tried on an experimental car and both from testers' reports and our own observations it does appear to have some effect in silencing the magneto. We should like to know whether, should we anticipate altering other magnetos experimentally in this manner, it would be necessary for this alteration to be done by the makers or whether it would be possible for them to supply us with such thicker covers and collector brushes to suit, so that we could ourselves replace these on existing standard magnetos. We consider it may be worth while to run experimentally one or two more magnetos in this condition. EFC. | ||
