SUBJECT

Test on Gallay Radiators as fitted to 200 h.p. Hispano Suiza Engine on "Dolphin" Machine.

SUMMARY

Wind Tunnel Tests have been made on two Gallay side radiators similar to those fitted to a 200 hp. Hispano Suiza engine in a Dolphin machine. The results show that these radiators are about 15% better than the 7 x 100 m/m honeycomb.

Each of these radiators has a tube block 21.6 inches long x 5 inches wide x 4.9 inches deep. The frontal area of each is .75 square feet, the weight empty 10.5 lbs., and the weight full 17.5 lbs. The head resistance per square foot frontal at 60 m.p.h. is 6.4 lbs.

The following tables show the mean results of the tests:-

| | WATER | AIR | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lbs per minute. | T1°F | T2°F | Vmph | B.Th.U per min: | Ditto at 60 m.p.h. & with 150° diff: of temperature. |
| 9.6 | 206.5 | 197.80 | 37.0 | 875 | 1290 |
| 8.9 | 206.62 | 196.45 | 37.0 | 901 | 1320 |
