RR 238 (300 Bks.) (SF 152.6-11-18.) MP 197880 ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: E.F.C. Order No: P.B. 55 Customer's No. X 4079 Test of Production Coil No. 17. This coil, as with the previous one returned by the test department, was first tested for continuity and short circuits of the windings, and then put through running tests as follows: 1. With standard ballast, on eight volts maximum regular spark gap 4.0 m.m. 2. With extra low resistance ballast (22" wire) on eight volts, maximum gap 5.5 m.m. 3. Coil heated up (40°C on outside of case) and with low resistance ballast, maximum gap on eight volts, 4.5 m.m. It will be seen that under the most favourable conditions it is still below our standard, giving only a 5.5 m.m. spark. Signed: C.A.P. This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
