Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. C.E. 86134. BY/RD1/W.1.7.35. "Phantom II" Engine in Tank. - Starter Motor - We have had some trouble with the starter motor in a tank engine refusing to operate because the pinion end bearing seized up, and it is proposed to try an "Oilite" bush for this duty. We have had produced in the Works a bearing bracket and washer, and also obtained an "Oilite" bush suitable. These are handed to you herewith. Will you please arrange for them to be fitted to a starter motor, which motor is to be subjected to suitable tests to prove out the "Oilite" bush. We think a standard starter motor should also undergo the same tests so that the two bushes can be compared upon completion. Providing the "Oilite" bush is satisfactory we propose to obtain a new bush and have the special parts fitted to the starter motor in the tank engine. Will you please advise us upon the progress of the job. D.75244. Bearing Bracket, P.E. } Parts D.75245. Retaining Washer. } herewith. "Oilite" Bush, Ref. GH. 23. } L.B Where is this motor? BY/RD | ||
