DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +3807 R9/M5.3.28. 1" OFFSET HYPOID GEAR. X.2066 X.3807 Regarding the 1" offset hypoid gear, the pinion shewn on N.sch.2552 should be used until proved wrong - i.e. with 45 X 110 New Departure bearing, no sheet metal casing. I would not use Schatz for fear failure and delay. I do not object to the felt, but am pleased we are not trusting to it for oil retaining. SEE ORIGINAL FOR SKETCH. Regarding oilretaining, I fear N.sch.2552 is not quite right (see sketch). R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
