K.{Mr Kilner} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGIN SECRET. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M18.3.31. C. to EG. WCR. C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL. 85300. Attached is a print of N. sch. 3257. - preliminary drawing of the clutch. We have not included either a rubber block cushion or a clutch stop as so far neither seem to have been demanded on the 25HP. The design follows LeCs. 2830. and 2845., in bringing the flywheel close up to the bearing, but on account of the increased engine torque it has been necessary to increase the clutch plate dia. to retain the same pressure per sq. in. on the ferodo with a pedal load of 35 lbs. A proposal is shewn for carrying away surplus oil through the sliding sleeve. Print of N. sch. 3257. is also attached to BY's copy of this memo. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
