To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Hydraulic Shock Absorbers. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/E13.7.32.
Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

You will have seen in a memo. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} the other day he mentioned we are carrying a legacy of about 300 hydraulic shock absorber complaints per quarter.

Apart from the dissatisfaction caused to customers there is the expense to the Company of dealing with these complaints, but what I am wondering is whether you fully relaise the high initial cost of these shock absorbers!

I have just obtained the latest information from our Chief Accountant on the subject and I learn that the cost of supplying and fitting RR hydraulic shock absorbers to a 40/50 HP Chassis is £31.10.6d. and to a 20/25 HP chassis £26.13.0d.

When one knows what one can buy shock absorbers for such as the Delco, these figures strike one as appalling, and help to impress on one the importance of fitting something different to Bensprt.
