-4- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}8/KW.D.7.36. Rear Axle. Semi-floating type - spiral bevel gears. Axle anchorage 6.00" higher than chassis frame. Wheels. Dunlop wire with wellbase rims. Luvax Hydraulic shock absorbers - links fitted with "Silentbloc" bushes. Chassis Suspension. Semi-elliptic laminated springs front and rear. Front spring has single shackle pin at forward end, whilst at the rear end the spring has a ground flat surface which slides between two halves of an oscillating bush; this reduces side sway to a minimum. "Silentbloc" bushes are fitted to rear springs and shackles. Frame. The chassis frame is extremely rigid in construction; the side members are box section fore and aft of the cruciform members. The frame is upswept at the front and passes under the axle at the rear, thus obtaining a low centre of gravity. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.H.Whyman. | ||
