As- Secret. x5430 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from GJ. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} GJ12/D3.6.25. India - Steering. X5430 Referring to your memorandum R6/M29.5.25 re India Steering, it certainly would appear desirable to have a separate or parallel control for the front axle and nothing could be more undesirable than stiffer front springs. We are very concerned to note that you are of opinion that the stiffest front springs possible must be used at once on the India Chassis and that the EAC. ought also to have springs of not less than 25% increase. You may remember that springs of 25% increase were tried by Sales Officials who were unanimous in declaring that if we supplied cars with springs of this stiffness we should destroy our reputation so far as comfort is concerned, therefore, I suggest that before adopting stiffer springs as a remedy the other possible remedies should be more closely studied. The 12% stiffer springs have already been the cause of considerable complaint. By all means reduce the front braking to a degree which will render the consideration of stiffening the springs beyond 12 1/2% as dead as Julius Caesar. GJ. | ||
