To get ventilating air out of a stream lined
motor vehicle at the rear the body is curved
upward, and between the flat portion of the
body and this upward curved portion is formed
a step in which the air exit is placed.

The exhaust valve is placed to one side of
the cylinder and when opened the head passes
into a recess with a lip round it so that
the head is shielded from the hot exhaust
