In any case the noise has stopped before we have had a chance to prove it. Grit and dirt on the road should be protected against by the leather cover. However, we find that no cover has been made for Peregrine, and instead the Phantom cover is used, which does not fit. We feel that the whole of your trouble has been caused from dirt and grit, and are therefore sending you some covers which have been specially made to fit your axle controls. We are also sending some new ball pads.

We should like you to start from scratch with the new ball pads, with the idea of preventing any dirt or grit from getting to the axle control. We suggest that the leather covers should be packed with grease before putting on, so as to seal all the crevasses through which dirt might enter.
