COPY. Cy2 - G.27720. July 27th.1920. Mr.Claude Johnson, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Ltd 15 Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} London, England. Re: Suggested Changes of Design Report No.6. Dear Sir, RADIATOR TUBES. This is to confirm our cable No.113 reading as follows:- "Radiator Tubes evidence many sources points impossibility using brass tubes in western States due corrosion zinc from alkaline water. Urge Radiator construction copper tubes. Sent last January. Test on bumping rig." The position on Radiator tubes is that 12,000 were shipped to Derby in February, arriving Liverpool March 11th. and reaching Derby apparently about the 20th. March. On the 26th. March Mr. Humpston reported that 100 had been built up for Mr.Royce's inspection and that Mr. Hives had taken these to Mr. Royce. Since this time, we have not heard further regarding radiators, except that we have been urged by Rolls-Royce Ltd. to obtain brass tubes so as to make Radiators standard with English radiator. On writing to various suppliers with reference to brass tubes, however, we find difficulty in obtaining them, the principal method for producing tubes in this country being :- | ||
