+8240 To CJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} R2/M16.7.25. RE. 'W' SERIES RADIATOR (BY7/H13.7.25). X18250 X. 8240 We are not sure that we like the paper radiator, and it has not run 10,000 miles. The 3rd. proposal of Mr. Bailey is the safest - present radiator but 1" higher, with integral shutters. This should not cause delay as tubes will be O.K., and Derby have all designs necessary. Some little drawing would be needed. The radiator should be kept as low as possible. I thought it could go down ¼" to ½". This would improve the bonnet, as the side hinge should rise rather more. The louvres were coarse and ugly. I think it better to go on with sliding shutters. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
