Dear Sirs, re-Speedometers. With reference to our conversation with Mr.Nichols on the telephone, you were going to let us know to what extent it was possible to reduce the outstanding orders that our Works at Derby have placed with you for speedometers for the 20/25 h.p.Rolls-Royce and the Bentley, so as to be able to introduce at the earliest possible date some of the improvements which are now available. We should like to have at once, that is to say as soon as stocks permit, subject to the reduction of orders in hand above referred to, the improved i.e. larger trip figures which are easily legible either by day or night. Could you not do the same with regard to the Bentley instruments, that is to say put the larger trip figures in the existing instruments. The Works have said you may be able to do this, and it does seem a way out of the difficulty, seeing that you are able to do it with the Rolls-Royce instruments. Of course these remarks as regards larger trip figures would apply to any speedometers on order for the 40/50 Rolls-Royce as well.
