To H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/M17.10.35 - 2 - improving are, as we know, springing, steering and perform- ance and it seems to us that the first two would be achieved by the adoption of the plan referred to above and the third would be achieved by the introduction of the bigger bore engine until such time as we were ready with a completely new 8-cylinder engine. In considering the engine policy we have, as you mention in your memo, to bear the Bentley in mind, and on the straight 8 engine policy we were fairly clear as to what we were going to do. I gather that the V.8 is not really technically sound for the Bentley car so it rather looks as if on balance we should have to adhere to the straight 8 for the Wraith as we cannot afford to develop both - when I say 'afford' I do not mean so much from a money point of view as time.
