5 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}8/CB30-9-20 contd. if it is only a bought-out one adapted, and some form of emergency starting gear should be fitted before the cars go abroad. It is understood that the fittings for the impulse starter, the hand emergency starter, and a temporary tyre pump, such as the "Kellogg", will be made about the time that the last car is delivered - November 21st. Our own tyre pump, a more perfect impulse starter, and emergency hand starter, can be fitted at any time after the cars are delivered. We are therefore trying to make these things so that they can be easily put on/away from home. The situation with reference to the 955X155 wheels is that they have decided not to use them but to go on with the 895X150 because Messrs Michelin do not appear to be able to guarantee delivery of either wheels or tyres within a reasonable time, and also because it appears that no other tyre will fit this particular size of wheel. The proposal is now, that a separate set of rear hubs, suitable for fitting twin wheels, should be prepared so that if it is found essential to use twin wheels, they can be fitted wherever the cars are. This would also obviate any temporary fitting on the part of the mechanic on the spot. The schemes which we are doing of these various points will be ready for submission in a few days now.
