RR 238 (150 BKS.) (DD 451-9 12 24) MP 306975 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. (3) To _________ Order No. WD {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 48 Customer's No. _________ standard combination of 1# value ballast resistance and 22 gauge coil to be OK and sufficiently protected against serious overheating. Whilst the engine was still hot we changed over the ignition to magneto. With this ignition the car repeatedly failed to "pick up" without misfiring and in one instance took an appreciable time to resume regular firing. Otherwise the magneto appeared to be OK. Cold starting by hand was not tried but we have Test Dept confirmation that in several instances this is very difficult owing to the poor low speed performance fully retarded.
