17 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Wn. [Handwritten] Clan General Wn3/AS.19.8.40. In view of the fact that you are now using the Clan Foundry premises as a factory we are claiming de-rating of the premises. In connection with the negotiations we are now advised by our Rating Surveyors, Messrs. Fuller, Peiser that one of their inspecting surveyors, Mr. J.W. Murkin, will be in the district on Friday next, the 23rd August, and would like to take an opportunity of inspecting the premises on that date at about 10 a.m. Will you be good enough to arrange that Mr. Murkin be given access to the premises and given information he may desire in connection with the nature of the work generally that is to be carried out. The important factors are that he does not need to be told any details of any particular jobs that you are doing or are going to do but merely corroboration of the case put forward that we are using the premises now not as offices and stores as they were in the first place, but for factory purposes in the nature of repairing engines and engineering work.
