Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.3-12-34. Please note as follows:- 1. CLEARANCES. We have arranged for the vertical rear wheel clearance to be increased by 3/8" and I learn that Park Wards told BLY{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales}: they thought that with this extra clearance and by packing up the body slightly there would be sufficient clearance for 6 inch tyres. But it sounds a bit haphazard to me, so I am asking BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for a chassis drawing shewing the clearances necessary if 6 inch tyres be fitted and will submit this to Park Wards and get to know whether the standard body can be adapted to suit. 2. DRIVING SEAT CUSHION. [Handwritten: No] Because Mr. Fairey is very tall and very long in the leg the driving seat cushion of his car is about 3 inches longer than standard. Most people would find it uncomfortable because of its length from back to front, and I would suggest Mr. Thompson would be well advised to have the standard. I might add that when Mr. Fairey's new car B-11-BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} was with you recently it was temporarily fitted with a standard seat so it could be driven by anyone of normal height. If you decide that Mr. Thompson should have the longer front seat, Park Wards will want to make an extra charge of 20/- for it. 3. CROSS MEMBER. I will see that Park Wards make the best of the extra room available. 4. SPECIAL STEERING COLUMN. The extra charge for this is £3-17-0. [Handwritten checkmark] OVER | ||
