20HP. AUTO FRICTION DAMPER FLYWHEEL.

We send you herewith drawing Lec. 2719. giving particulars of the above.

This flywheel should be tried experimentally with the idea that it might be required later for the 'China' chassis.

Since the friction increases with speed and can start at a very low value this scheme should be beneficial in disposing of galloping knocks.

At the same time the flywheel has been made about 40% heavier which is all in the right direction.

The original Silver Ghost damper flywheels were very heavy, which may account for the degree of latitude allowable on the damper friction.

It will be interesting to observe the effect of the Lec. 2719. on the master period of the crank.

As regards the 'Japan' engine we are putting in a crank of increased proportions, and on this account we think a special damper like Lec. 2719. may not be found necessary but that a simple damper with adequate inertia may suffice.
