For the attention of Mr. Robotham.

Dear Sirs,

I understand you have been in touch with our Manager, Car Manufacturers Division, regarding equipment for Mr. E.R.Hall's Bentley, entered for the forthcoming T.T. Race.

As you were present last year at the race, you know the position then. I would definitely say the crux of the whole question was, and probably will be, the abnormal non-skid surface of the course.

I have advised Mr. Hall to use this year 6.50x19 tyres. Although it is almost impossible to forecast what the results will be from the use of this tyre against the 6.00x18 as used last year.

Obviously the bigger section and diameter must give increased mileege, but whether the larger tyre will last seventeen laps, I would not be prepared to say.

However, there is another point in favour of these tyres. We propose to use a pattern that is 1 m/m thicker than that used last year.

Although, as I have mentioned, we cannot guarantee the number of laps before a tyre change, my considered opinion is that it is well worth while to take the chance and fit the 6.50x19.

Contd.....
