Swindell} Four Port Head - Phantom III. We send you herewith LeC.5420 showing the water pipes from the top water rails to the hot box for the water heated induction system, and LeC.5427 of a modification to the throttle control bell crank lever supported off the induction pipe, both to suit the above cylinder head. It will be necessary to add bosses to the top water rails to accommodate these water pipes, and the exhaust heat connection through the cylinder head may be deleted as indicated. A number of castings of the head should be made before the exhaust connection is deleted so that the exhaust heated induction system may be tried at a later date. It is agreed to use the aluminium hot box to E.88370 which has been made experimentally but it will require some modifications to make it a more practical foundry job, details of which will be issued shortly. The modification to the control support involves a facing on the half induction pipe and reversion to the bell crank lever as originally designed dies for which already exist. The control down to the cross shaft has now been lined up so that a jaw and can be used instead of a ball joint with consequent reduction in cost. As the rear half induction pipe on B bank and the front half on A are made from the same pattern the facing for the bracket can either be produced with a loose piece on the pattern or can be ground off the pipe which it is not required.
