X.2862 - BOSCH Z.A.2 TWO-CYLINDER MOTOR CYCLE TYPE MAGNETO. X.29188.B - INVESTIGATION OF CONTACT BREAKER MOTION OF BOSCH Z.A.2 CONTACT BREAKER We have now carried out experiments on the Bosch Z.A.2 magneto referred to under section (6) of Mr. Olley's directions under Gy2/SS{S. Smith}617. X.29188.H For investigation of the motion of the contact breaker at high speeds the Z.A.2 magneto and a Bosch Z.R.6 magneto, for supplying the illuminating spark, were driven as in the accompanying sketch:- ZA2 pulley E+ 6000 R.P.M. CHAIN BELT MOTOR PULLEY D+ BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} 3000 R.P.M. ZR6 pulley C+ 3000 R.P.M. A 1500 R.P.M. In other respects the test was as described for the Dixie magneto in KPC9/TS2617. At first we were troubled with furious arcing at the contact points at the two breaks, which started at a speed of 2400 R.P.M. approx. and got worse up to 6200 R.P.M. This Contd. | ||
