For the attention
of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Burman.

Dear Sirs,

This is to confirm my visit of Thursday, June 26th, about the experimental steering column and box.

The main points agreed were as follows:-

Column and box to be as on scheme R.444.
3 turns lock to lock.
Filler plug in column 6" above box.
Black finish all over.
Your standard fixing and oil seal for inner stationary tube. Outside dia. of this tube is 15/32" (.46875").
Torque reaction lug to be provided at top of box.
Face of this lug to be 1.05" from Q column. Body of lug to be on column side of this face.
Worm butt welded to worm tube.
Box to include pendulum lever to our detail RP.2525 enclosed. You will notice that the material specified is 3 1/2% nickel steel, specification S.69, but if you prefer to use your normal material, we will gladly take this and would like the specification number and details of the material for reference purposes.

We would like, if possible immediately, full particulars of the splines and serrations on which the steering wheel fits, in order to enable us to finish our detail of the steering wheel. You will carry on with your drawing and manufacture, and we would like a print of your drawings as soon as possible. Our official order to cover the work is being sent to you.

Yours faithfully,
