43807 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KW. 28th December, 1934. The Ransome & Marles Bearing Co.Ltd., Newark-on-Trent. For the attention of Mr. Hickling. Dear Sirs, Re 35 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Bearings. In view of our decision to use steel cages in the Bentley pinion bearing, and also in view of the failure you had on the dural cage with a 35 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} bearing, we think it would be as well to use steel cages for this bearing also. We are therefore returning to you the bearing which you recently fitted with a dural cage for a steel one to be fitted, and should be glad if you will make sure that 35 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} bearings which we order in future also have steel cages. The one we have running in a car has so far given no trouble whatever, and we hope shortly to get a test on the second one. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
