We have tried on 37-EX. the gearbox brought back from the States by Mc.Williams. Under no condition was the standard of silence up to what we now sell to the public. The side shaft idling noise was bad and also the noise on indirect gears either under drive or overrun. We understand the gears are double cut on a Fellowes machine, carburized and quenched. The surface of a second set of gears giving overdrive ratios is rough compared to our normal ground gears. We suggest this gives rise to some of the noise. As the experiment has not been a success, please let us know what you would like done with this particular gearbox. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
