Lucas Wipers:
-----------

With reference to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}9/JH.12.7.38, we have now received an assurance from Lucas that they are in a position to supply us with wipers incorporating the modifications mentioned by you, and in addition, stainless steel exposed parts such as squeegee holder and arm, and motors specially silenced.

They want 23/6d nett for the wipers against orders for 200, delivery of which may be spread over a period.

We had got them down to 22/6d for a wiper with chromium plated exposed parts but agreed that these specially produced in stainless steel are worth another 1/- per wiper.

Unless you see any objection to so doing we propose to give Lucas our order for the wipers as we must have wipers of one make or another quickly to take care of our show and new Trials cars etc.,

In your memo of the 12th ult., you mentioned Mr. Mason had promised you a sample modified wiper in a few days time for testing purposes.

Did this come along please and if so what do you think of it?.

Do you, in any case, see any reason why we should not accept Lucas' assurances and give them our order.
