γ 1201 Expl. Dept. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}22/MJ. 2nd. November, 1936. Messrs. Leyland Motors Ltd., Leyland, Lancs. For the attention of Mr. W. Pilkington. Dear Mr. Pilkington, Thank you for your letter of the 31st. October and for the information therein contained. There are two other points we should like to raise which are really interconnected. As you know, our output is relatively small, amounting in the 25 HP. size to perhaps 1,000 units per year. In the case of your gearbox, was the tool cost very heavy. We presume there was a considerable saving in time on foundry work - what did this amount to as a percentage of the total cost of producing castings. We do not know how you are getting on with our servo mechanism, but if there is any way in which we can help you please advise us. Yours sincerely, | ||
