Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hdy.{William Hardy} To HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} I went to Strombergs on Thursday and told them about the flooding complained of on P.W's cables. They expect their carburettor to flood on a 14% grade (on mark i.27) and to show that the curb is 9/32 below the main jet. The auxiliary jets cut in at or just below the petrol level & are shut off when the throttle is closed. The pump mechanism cuts in on down of these jets. Cadillacs have had cases when their valve leaks & the carburettor floods all the time. Their only recommendation for showing a 1 in 5 flood gradient was either to heel the float at the side which they have cut out on corners or tilt the whole carb forwards. The necessary angle about 5° on our manifold as the engine slopes 1 1/2° backwards. To prevent percolation on our existing type of carburettor the following features help | ||
