Dear Mr. Hives:

RE CARBURETTER
Stromberg UX-4

We should like to interest you in the latest type of Stromberg carburetters brought out this year and with this in mind are having a UX-4, 1-3/4" carburetter sent to your personal attention.

I have already sent you a print of A-12900 showing how we have installed it on a Phantom of the old type without turbulent head. The results though not startling are distinctly promising.

We have had a representative of the Stromberg works to do all the adjustments and he has shown us several interesting features of the new carburetter.

(1) When properly installed and adjusted there is no "lean spot" either in full throttle acceleration or in level running.

(2) The intake manifold and heated bend appear free from wet fuel. The distribution appears good. The drains can be left off without loading.

(3) Acceleration is improved by about 1 sec. from 10-50, due to positive enriching action of spring-loaded fuel pump.

(4) At the same time ordinary touring economy is good, about 11 miles per U.S. gallon (13.2 m.p. Imp. gallon) with 20" wheels, 14/52 axle, and 5800 lb. closed car with two passengers.

(5) Idling is excellent and opening up after idling is free from hesitation due to the method of blending the idling and open throttle conditions described later.
