place after the springs have been in service six months or so.
This must be due partially to the digging in which takes place
at the end of the leaves and is noticeable after a short period
of service even on trials cars where the springs get particular
attention.

(5) Whether the rating of the spring varies appreciably
over its range of movement. Graph E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} shews that it does not
vary to any great extent.
