HYDRAULIC DAMPERS
REPLENISHING PIPES.

From our experience on experimental cars, and also reports from Service Stations, we cannot say that replenishing pipes to the hydraulic dampers are essential. We do not get leaks from our dampers at all unless there is a definite fault.

19-G4. has just completed 16,000 miles and we can measure no loss of oil in the dampers.

25-EX. completed 20,000 miles with no appreciable loss.

The most serious fault for causing leaks from the damper is when the replenishing valve sticks. On the latest dampers, however, this has a cast iron seat instead of aluminium and we think this should overcome the trouble. We consider, therefore, that to add replenishing pipes in the dampers would be an unnecessary complication.
