Re French Steel submitted by Mr Bernheim.

A letter was submitted from Mr Johnson in which he explained that Mr G W Bernheim, the re-presentative of Acieres de Mont-Didier was going to send a sample of their steel, and suggested that it might be worth while trying this.

The Committee suggested that Mr Wormald should try this steel when the sample arrived, but they wished to state that we should exercise extreme care in departing from our present practice as regards steels. We have arrived at our present state of excellence as regards hardening and treatment, after very careful study of a particular class of steels.
