Contd. -2-

We had no knowledge of the use of this nib, and it was not shewn on our drawing. If anything further is needed than the single clip at present adopted, we think it would be better to use a second clip to prevent all the plates from turning but the very short ones. This would make it easy to grind the plates on each side. We think also a better job could be made of the clips. X.3981. I hope we are ed{J. L. Edwards} endeavouring at the earliest possible minute to return to rear springs with tapered ends, instead of the sheared ends which were recently adopted to avoid the practice of giving extra curvature to the ends of the plates.

Mr. Day is getting out instructions for the modified springs.

MADE AT CROXLEY R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Presnet springs are not defective if properly made.
