(1) CLEARING HOUSE.

A suitable place has now been found for this Clearing House, in the Raw Material Stores (General Stores). This place is rather bigger than a Test House, and should be successfully working very shortly. It must be kept solely for obsolete stuff.

(2)
Mr. Sidgreaves'report on his run to Derby was read to the meeting. The Conference would like to know if it is the latest Napier to which Mr. Sidgreaves refers, and if there is any possibility of trying one. We assume it is the latest Napier.

(3) AMERICA. - Re three cables received from America, Nos.126, 127 & 128.

In considering these the Conference came to the following conclusions:-

(1) Apparently America have now appreciated the wisdom of our recommendations made as far back as May 18th.1920, by which we strongly recommended that the American chassis should be identical in every particular with the English chassis, but their change of attitude has come so late in the day that we cannot possibly despatch the material they call for within the time limit given. It will be seen, however, by the recommendations made later that every effort will be made by Derby to meet American requirements.

It would have been better if America had kept Derby more fully informed as to when the first chassis would actually be produced, as we have all along reckoned upon the production commencing in May 1921, whereas we are now informed that production of chassis will actually commence
