To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} } from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} To BR.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} } [Struck through] Copy to CU. " " RB.{R. Bowen} [Struck through] * EFC. ORIGINAL. E1/G12/5/19. 2 RE 40/50 H.P. CLUTCH OPERATION. X.3554. With reference to the clutch operation on the 40/50 H.P. chassis, an inspection of the general arrangement F.6723 shews that the connecting link between the thrust lever on the clutch and the operating shaft lever, is very much inclined, and out of normal with the thrust lever. Mr. Royce recollects that this somewhat distorted movement occurred when the slope of the transmission was altered from 1 in 69 to 1 in 33. He would now like a design prepared in which the position and movement of the link is made more normal, this being done by reducing the lengths of both the operating lever and the thrust lever, and maintaining approximately the same mechanical ratio. Would you kindly have a scheme prepared in accordance with the foregoing as early as possible, for Mr. Royce's criticism. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [STAMPED] RECEIVED MAY 18 1919 | ||
