A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, With further reference to the problem of tyre noise on the 7.00/18 India Super Tyres. I am wondering whether you have had an opportunity of getting any tests carried out on the second set of this size which we shipped to you on the 28th of September. The change which has been made is one that would not be evident without careful comparison, it consists of a different type of mould vent in the circumferential groove between the riding rib and the buttons of the centre pattern and also a decrease in the groove depth of the nonskid on the shoulder. Although the improvement in Silence due to this change is not evident under all conditions of running, we have found that there is a noticeable improvement when cornering on wet roads. You will remember that some time ago you queried the silence of the new Super 5.50/18 as compared with the Speed Special 5.50/18.
