I received word today that 22.G.V. was crossing over. I intended to meet it, but did not receive the telegram from Châteauroux until 9-30 this morning. I therefore telephoned Boulogne to inform Waller to bring the car up to Paris.

RE B. 56. BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}

We have thoroughly examined the front of the car and no further damage has been found. The cracking of the dropped front cross member was not the cause of the bump. We have found two more Bentleys in the Depot here with this cross member cracked the same as ours. It apparently is being caused by the twisting of the frame, and needs attention; sketch enclosed showing position of cracks. Will you please send over a new cross member.
Our Exhaust valves are stretching. We shall therefore take them out. Will you send new valves.

We are sorry but no running has been done with the Bentley. The examination and dismantling has taken up all the time so far. Mr.Sleator informs me that the test hill is still covered with snow, and will be about another two weeks before it is possible to do any tests on it.

Re Oil temperatures, on the 10th of April I reported an oil temperature of 132°c. We have been having 122° and 120°c maximum, regular, average has been 109°c.

RE CLUTCH

We are investigating this. There is no slack in the Hardy propeller shaft joints but there is a fair amount in the axle which may have some relation with the clutch jagger.
