X.388a. RE OPERATING DEVICE.

We send you herewith sketch of alternative device suggested by Mr. Royce for operating the reserve fuel valve in case it is not possible to obtain the sylphon tube for the first design sent through.

The joint is formed by the fibre washer shewn in the sketch under pressure from a coil inside the operating handle. It is intended that a protective cover should be used similar to a tyre valve cover, which is removed when it is desired to operate the valve. This cover prevents an accidental depression of the operating handle by luggage etc. which would cause leakage or damage to the needle.
