E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}8/M23.1. 24. PULL OFF SPRINGS TO FRONT BRAKES. X9940 Replying to your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG21124. we have not given any instructions about these pull off springs except the axial twist springs on N.scheme 1716. Which Mr. Royce the last time we discussed it with him seemed to prefer to the tension springs. We presume that what you want is some tension springs which will replace the original ones you are now using so that you may fit them to existing axles instead of waiting for the modified parts on N.scheme 1716. We will send you some springs with this. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Wire. .072 Mean Rad. .264 No. of coils. 23 Initial load. 13 lbs. Final load. 23.75 lbs. Initial stress. 46700. Final stress. 85000. Initial torque. 18 lbs ins. Final torque. 23.75 lbs ins. All other as that on N.scheme 1377 [Handwritten notes] This spring may prove too light but approximates to the torsion spring We should like it as light as possible. JA By from HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Recommend you also instruct springs 25% stronger than these HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
