The testing, modification, and deployment of five different Smith Type 2D dynamos.

X.3922 EFC/T4.9.20. X.295. - SMITH DYNAMOS. X.3923b. Type 2D 1. This dynamo, No.1437 was received on 11.4.20, After undergoing the tests which are recorded elsewhere, it was placed on 49-GB for test wired up with temporary wiring in conjunction with the Smith cutout. Smith dynamo 2D (2). After undergoing certain tests recorded elsewhere, this dynamo was put on chassis 6.EX and went to Mr. Royce. Its armature, however, was damaged owing to incorrect fuses being put in the system and has since been returned from West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. Smith dynamo 2D (3). This is our experimental 2D machine and has had slots cut in the end plate to enable the brush position to be varied. Smith dynamo 2D (4) This dynamo has been placed on chassis 6.EY to replace dynamo 2D (2). X.3922 Smith dynamo 2D (5) This dynamo went to Mr. Royce for inspection, after which it has undergone heating tests (Final condition) and now has been placed upon Mr. Northey's Trials Car. | ||
