1280. xx 2424 January 15th.1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/Ap. Messrs. John Marstons Ltd., WOLVERHAMPTON. For the attention of Mr.Dunn. Dear Sirs, We are modifying slightly the spacing of the B.III. Dummy Shutters from that shown on the arrangement drawing which you already have, in order to make B.II. and B.III. stiffeners common. We will forward the new drawing at the earliest possible moment - we confirm receipt of your drawing C.251 showing the shutter vane section. With regard to the latter we would like to point out that we agreed on a gap of approximately .025" between edge of rear turn of vane and main blade of vane itself - your drawing does not show this gap. We are continuing with our detailing of the stiffener on the assumption that you will correct this by appropriately shortening the length of the rear edge turn over and not the angle. With regard to the three B.III. radiator matrices to EB.3513 which were ordered and received from you and of which one was yesterday returned in order to have bottom tank dip soldered to same, the measured overall width of these blocks over the side plates is 19.050 - actually the drawing calls for a width under side plates of 19.050 which means that the matrices should measure 19.150 approx. over side plates - they are therefore .100 narrow. As these are experimental blocks and are needed urgently we are not rejecting them - will you however ensure that any future blocks to this drawing are correct to size. With regard to fitting the B.III. bottom tank correctly to the matrix sent you, the B.III. schemes which you already have will furnish any information required. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
