PETROL TANKS.

With reference to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}10/JH.12.2.40, we agree with your remarks, but in your summary you make no mention of the actual tanks which you propose for the rationalised range of cars. My own suggestions are as follows:-

Chassis. Tank Capacity. Tank Gauge.

8-cylinder cars 22-gallons .028

6-cylinder cars 16-gallons .022

4-cylinder cars 12-gallons .022

In order that it shall be possible to fit Comet chassis with 22-gallon tanks, it is necessary that this size shall be designed so that it can be accommodated in 50" road springs.

The second reason for this is that all B.Vs{J. Vickers} going to France will want to have the 22-gallon tank.

Over and above the rationalised tanks enumerated, there will be the following special tanks which will be built to a customer's order and he will be charged accordingly.

(1) Corniche tank - 18-gallons - enables a spare wheel to be carried at the back.

(2) A big tank to enable 8-cylinder cars to run from Paris to Lyons on one filling with an average consumption of 11 miles to a gallon. Tank capacity 29-gallons.

You will note from this that we have no tank suitable for the wheel at the back on the rationalised range. This means that as soon as we get the Corniche body back we have got to arrange a spare wheel on the side and get it approved as our English Corniche.
