CCOPY. R.R. -100-3-11/F.P. or 30-10-11 G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} MOSS. Mr Barrington. X140 Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence, 4th February 1912. Members of the Technical Committee. Re Bevel Rear Axle. Mr Royce wishes us to rig up an axle in such a way that we can apply a twist to the propeller and lock the ends of the rear axle shafts. We should then measure whether the bevel wheel deflects and also whether the pinion deflects. To ascertain this on the pinion the shaft should be produced as shown in the sketch. The rods may be passed through holes and the deflection measured by means of an indicator. [Handwritten in margin: X781] [Sketch with handwritten labels: measuring rod., projection of pinion, measuring rod.] See also sheet Nō/B7212. Mr Royce thinks Mr Bagnall should should carry out the above experiment. Thos. Nadin. | ||
