HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 261 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.5.7.37. 4¼-litre Bentley - 57-KW for VANDERVELL. We understand that this chassis is being passed to test at the end of July. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has agreed that we should make certain experimental modifications to this engine unit, one of which will be to fit the latest A.C.6 die cast main bearings with improved lubrication, as its owner drives particularly hard and has already had two big-end failures. We shall be glad if you will let us have this engine unit to fit the special bearings when it has reached this stage of production. We are also going to supply a special cylinder head for this car.
