J X.3281 [Stamp: D 20 MAR 1918] c/o Davidson, 36 Willowbank St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, Woodlands Rd., GLASGOW, 19th March, 1918. To the Manager, Messrs Rolls-Royce, Ltd., 14-15 Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, LONDON, W.1. Dear Sir,- I am the designer and patentee of a carburettor, which I believe to be a great improvement compared with present designs. It is designed on the variable jet principle and the jet is controlled mechanically by one of the throttles, of which there are two, thus giving a perfect mixture at all speeds. I have had a few in use for some considerable time and they are giving very satisfactory results. I am convinced that this type of carburettor will be found very suitable for Aero engine work and car work. If you care to look into the design I shall be pleased to submit detail drawings for your inspection. If you required one for inspection, I could send you a small model but only a crude one, as I have had difficulty in producing the few that have been made. The patent is covered for fourteen years and is No.100929/16. Hoping you will favor me with an early reply. I am, Yours faithfully, (Davidson) | ||
