To Mr. Wheeler. (Alum. Foundry). Copy to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Col. 1269 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB.2/ET.29.1.41. Enclosed is a drawing (EE.1989) of a car coolant pump. A pattern has been made for casting this in I/C. After the iron casings are cast, we would like to modify the pattern so that an I/C washer is cast in an aluminium body. Section AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson} has been altered to show this. We would like to know your views on the design. Except for the cast in washer, the design is a copy of the Buick pump. It is intended to copper plate the washer before casting. The object of casting in the washer is to provide iron bearing face for the packless gland. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB. | ||
