X.3923b. X.3763b. RE STARTER - 1.EX. COMPARED WITH 6.EX.
----------------- X.3082. X.3986. X.3350. X.3779.

The starter behaved perfectly on both cars, except on 6.EX. the increased number of teeth appeared to make the starter definitely more noisy. I think we ought to avoid this arrangement.

X.3748. It must also be remembered that the increase in the strength of the winding of the magnets in the case of recent cars will naturally increase the noise of the starter clutch.

X.4180. I have suggested that a set up spring be interposed between the magnetic arrangement and the clutch. This might make the arrangement more silent and have less tendency to damage this unit.

See another memo for future suggestions.
